Vincent Van Gogh's Life

Vincent Van Gogh was famous for his paintings, but only after he died. Only one painting was sold during his lifetime “The Red Vineyard”. He was considered a Dutch-Post Impressionist painter. These artists wanted to use art to express and show feelings not just what they saw.

He was born in Groot-Zundert, Holland on March 30, 1853 and died on the 20 July, 1890. During his early adult life he worked for a firm of art dealers. Van Gogh worked unsuccessfully as a clerk in a bookstore, an art salesman, and a preacher in the Borinage.

Van Gogh first used dull colours but after seeing the work of other Impressionist painters, he started to use brighter colours. He was influenced by the works of Cezanne and Gaugin.

Between November 1881 and July 1890, Van Gogh painted almost 900 paintings. Some of his famous paintings were “Starry Night”, “Sunflowers”, “The Potato Eaters”, and many more. His brother Theo was the one who inspired him to paint. Van Gogh firmly believed that to be a great painter you had to first master drawing before adding colour.

After he died he had left a lot of Artwork behind. Most people today still appreciate his work. His life was really depressing for him, he was so depressed that he cut his ear lobe off. But I reckon he is one of the best artists in the world.

A little something about a Cardiac Arrest

Our class has been learning about a man who has died from a Cardiac Arrest. His name was Alexander Dale Oen, his death was very unexpected, as he is a 26 year old man who was really fit. You get a Cardiac Arrest from the abrupt loss of heart function  in a person who may or may have been diagnose with heart disease. The time and mode of death is unexpected, it occurs instantly or shortly after symptoms appear. People who have heart disease are at higher risk for a Cardiac Arrest.
